Other Bichot wines served during the mezze appetizer course included the C’est La Vie Chardonnay 2019 and the Horizon de Bichot Pinot Nor 2019. For this special course, one needs a special wine.

Today, their son John and daughter Julie are the the estate proprietors, and Julie’s husband, Pat Garvey, is the vineyard director and proprietor. The property is situated among vineyards planted in the late 1800s, now part of the estate vineyards. When the Komes bought the estate, it came with a “Ghost Winery.”

We beheld endless, steep rows of vines along both banks of the Douro River, quickly validating the oft-repeated notion that the region represents half of the world’s mountain vineyards.
