During the 2019 harvest, I spent several days with Symington, his family and Symington Family Estates staff in the Douro Valley. We beheld endless, steep rows of vines along both banks of the Douro River, quickly validating the oft-repeated notion that the region represents half of the world’s mountain vineyards.
