The pioneering farm first broke records in 2004, when it sold one of its Geshas for US $21/lb, making it the world’s most expensive coffee at the time. Hacienda La Esmeralda won all three main categories, a first for the competition, and achieved record-breaking scores of 97 and 98 points for its natural and washed Geshas, respectively.
