The cashier was nice, which made the experience even better, as did the instant satisfaction of tucking away a very large, very warm, very full plastic bag on the floor of my front seat. It was also familiar, a modicum of casual comfort as the omicron wave crested in Los Angeles.

Located two blocks from the East River in the heart of Greenpoint, KanaHashi is a casual sushi bar with dine-in and take-out options for lunch and dinner. I loved their double-sided Lovely Roll with spicy tuna, scallop, avocado, and tobiko on the inside, and lobster salad and wasabi tobiko on the outside served with honey wasabi sauce.
