The majority of vineyards here are cultivated on hillsides benefiting from ample sunshine conditions with a primarily temperate climate and a maritime influence.

After 11 years as a coastal science and policy specialist in Boston, Chantal Lefebvre and her husband Mike Newman moved to Northwest Michigan in 2007 to be closer to family that’d recently relocated there. Lefebvre and Newman first sowed the fruits of WaterFire Vineyards in 2009, after purchasing the 26-acre farm property.

Today there are 220 members (90 families) and 196 hectares of vineyards. All the families tend the vineyards with passion and dedication that transcends to the wines they make. Their son Daniel joined the team in 2007 and was involved in taking steps to direct the estate towards biodynamic farming and organic production.

TripAdvisor awarded Memphis Amerigo the Certificate of Excellence for the last five years! In 1987, Café Society opened in Memphis, and in 2007, Café Society welcomed new owner, Chef Cullen Kent, who studied the culinary arts in Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and brunch on Sunday.
