Melrose Vineyards is located on the bench of the South Umpqua River where once stood an early French Settlement. Melrose Vineyards’ owners (Wayne and the late Deedy Parker) arrived in 1996 to make Umpqua Valley Wine. The original vineyard of 82 acres was planted in the summer of 1996. Built in 2003, the winery overlooks beautifully maintained vineyards and is filled with new, state-of-the-art, and expensive looking equipment. After telling me the story of the winery, Mr. Bottai treated me to a tasting of the wines and local foods in the modern-looking tasting room and gift shop. . Marisa D'Vari.
