opened Woburn Winery, the first American, Black-owned vineyard and winery, in Virginia. In 2008 Long opened Longevity as winemaker and co-owner with his late wife Debra. His passion for wine grew from serving it to selecting grapes from Oregon vineyards and learning the art of winemaking to produce wine for top New York restaurants.??.

One of Laura’s many passions is to learn more about high altitude viticulture, the vineyard soil microbiome and wine ageability. Breathless Wines , a female-led winery, was founded in 2008 and is located in Healdsburg, CA in the heart of Sonoma County’s wine country. Breathless Wines works with select vineyards throughout the North Coast of Sonoma County and Mendocino County. Sourced from Sonoma County, this 100% Chardonnay is aged for 32 months.

Today, their son John and daughter Julie are the the estate proprietors, and Julie’s husband, Pat Garvey, is the vineyard director and proprietor. The property is situated among vineyards planted in the late 1800s, now part of the estate vineyards. When the Komes bought the estate, it came with a “Ghost Winery.”

The vineyards are situated along the middle stretch of the Loire River (France’s longest river) in central France, which runs from east to west. There are over 4000 wineries and approximately 57,400 hectares of vineyards here. Grapes are sourced from 50-year-old vines grown in limestone, flint, and clay soil.
