Canelli became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2014 and it is famous for its surrounding historic vineyards and intricate subterranean wine cellars called “Underground Cathedrals” These cellars weave in and out of Canelli for about 20 miles. These changes helped to give the wines more complexity and richness.
