About the Columbia Gorge AVA The Columbia Gorge AVA, established in 2004, comprises vineyard lands on both sides of the Columbia River, in both Oregon and Washington. In 2004 the orchard’s age required replacing the trees or trying something new. We weren’t about to give up, so we hired an excavator to pull them from the soil.
