The farm is run by Jack Algiere, who was hired as the center’s first employee in 2003. Over his first 10 years at Stone Barns, he built a flourishing, 10-acre organic vegetable farm using compost and rotational planting to feed the soil. Some saw the risk as part of life on a small farm; others were appalled.
