For resolution season, meditate and move with Chipotle and Sweetgreen

Promotions for the month of January focus on wellbeing and lifestyle bowls designed for Millennials and Gen Z.

It’s 2023 and Chipotle Mexican Grill wants to help us calm our minds and move our bodies—by using Snapchat.

Sweetgreen, meanwhile, also wants to help us with our mindful movement, while we eat more vegetables.

For this season of wellbeing resolutions, Chipotle on Tuesday said it will launch its first-ever augmented reality lens with Snapchat designed to encourage fans to move their bodies and calm their minds with Chipotle-sponsored exercises and meditation prompts.

The lens will launch on Jan. 13, otherwise known as “Quitter’s Day” because that’s typically how long resolutions last. And 100,000 fans who participate in the Snapchat challenges will earn a promo code for free guacamole.

Chipotle is also promoting seven new Lifestyle Bowls designed specifically for Gen Z and Millennials' interpretation of wellbeing, said Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s chief marketing officer, in a statement.

“We’re making new year’s resolutions fun by gamifying the experience and offering balanced meals made with real ingredients that you feel good eating,” he said.

The bowls are available exclusively on the digital menu, and include options like the Balanced Macros Bowl with light white rice, black beans, chicken, fajita veggies, tomato salsa, guacamole and extra romaine lettuce; and the Veggie Full Bowl with white rice, black beans, fajita veggies, tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa and guacamole.

Sweetgreen, meanwhile, has tapped the popularity of health guru Melissa Wood-Tepperberg, founder of Melissa Wood Health, or MWH, to take the Green January challenge. Five participants will be selected to win a free annual subscription to MWH. The platform offers various online workouts designed for mindful movement as well as tips on incorporating healthy habits.

Wood-Tepperberg also worked with Sweetgreen to create a custom bowl with arugula and kale, chickpeas, carrots, cabbage, onions, broccoli, warm portobello mix, avocado, chile flakes, pesto drizzle and a lemon squeeze. The bowl will be available exclusively through the website and app for delivery or pickup during January.

Those who opt-in for the MWH challenge and order Wood-Tepperberg’s bowl three times before Jan. 18 will get $7 off their next digital order, and a first-month free when they sign up for MHW’s monthly membership (using the code “sweetgreen”).
