Pizza Hut is bringing cheesesteak to the menu

Sirloin steak is a new option for the chain’s pizza and handheld Melts for a limited time.

Pizza Hut is bringing grilled sirloin steak strips to its menu starting Tuesday for a limited time.

The new meat option will be available in a Cheesesteak Pizza and a Cheesesteak Melt. The pizza is topped with the steak strips, alfredo sauce, green bell peppers, onions and Parmesan oregano seasoning on a choice of crusts. Price varies according to pizza size but starts at $13.99.

The handheld Cheesesteak Melt is filled with melted cheese, steak strips and other toppings, then baked until crisp and finished with butter and Parmesan oregano. It’s served with a side of ranch sauce for dipping and goes for $6.99.

Pizza Hut is timing the LTO to coincide with its stint at Chain, the popular West Hollywood popup that reimagines chain restaurant menu favorites with chef-inspired spins. Pizza Haute’s Dinner Series will feature the Tri-Tip Supreme, a twist on a potato pizza flavored with bacon fat and thyme-roasted confit potatoes, as well as fine-dining versions of the brand’s Classic Pepperoni and Vegetarian Supreme. Bottles of Chain’s ranch dressing and seasoning blend will be available on the table, too. The popup is scheduled for May 19, 20 and 24.

Cheesesteak in sandwiches and other formats is now on 19.5% of chain menus, according to data from Restaurant Business sister company Technomic. The trend started in independent eateries, notably Philadelphia’s iconic cheesesteak destinations like Geno’s and Pat’s, but it has since gone mainstream on casual dining and fast casual menus. The basic combos include steak strips, peppers and onions, but the cheese can vary from provolone to pepper jack, cheddar, fontina and more.
