Bam! Emeril Lagasse’s Sports Bar on the Las Vegas Strip Closes Permanently

Emeril Lagasse becomes the first celebrity chef to permanently close one of his restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip due to the coronavirus pandemic. His ode to bar food and sports, Lagasse’s Stadium, will not reopen at the Palazzo, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The sports bar that featured dishes representing NFL teams when they faced off during Thursday and Sunday night football games, a stadium seating area, more than 100 screens, and sports betting, closed when Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered all nonessential businesses including bars and casinos to close on March 17.

He originally opened the restaurant in 2009, replacing rapper Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club, and it quickly became the type of venue others tried to replicate. Lagasse opened The Biergarden at the restaurant that sits on the Strip in 2017. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Venetian continued to pay employees at the restaurant while the casino and resort remained closed.

Lagasse’s other Las Vegas restaurants, Delmonico Steakhouse at the Venetian and Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House at MGM Grand, remain open.

Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro at the Palazzo also closed permanently during the coronavirus pandemic.
