Unbeatable Happy Hour Specials Around Nashville

When you hear the word Nashville, you probably think of live music. After all, it’s known as Music City, USA, for a good reason. You may also think of hot fried chicken and the iconic Country Music Hall of Fame, but it’s also a culture that prizes gathering with friends, enjoying cold drinks and hot nibbles during a Nashville happy hour.

Happy hour is an integral part of life for me as an avid traveler who is often on a budget. It’s a special present from the restaurant to see good happy hour deals available as long as I visit during their specified times. I love cozying up to a restaurant bar with half-price snacks, preferably full of carbs that will soak up a discount cocktail or two. Whether you’re a Nashville local or a tourist in tow for a day or two, there’s a happy hour drink special waiting for you. Check out my list of spots with the best happy hour in Nashville below!

Specializing in craft beer and excellent pub food, M.L. Rose Craft Beer & Burgers is making a name for itself. It has three locations across Nashville, TN, with restaurants in Melrose, Sylvan Park, and Capital View, plus the latest location in Mt. Juliet. The food is affordable, and M.L. Rose boasts regular specials and a happy hour from Monday to Friday 3 PM to 6 PM with $1 off appetizers, wine, liquor, and beer. My favorite appetizer was an item called Bottle Caps. It’s fried pickles, okra, and jalapenos with a homemade ranch sauce that’s great for dipping. Pair that with a craft beer, and it’s a great start to the evening.

Sitting on Charlotte Ave. between 47th and 48th Ave, just down from hot yoga, Hathorne is a beautiful modern restaurant for casual get-togethers and date nights. They balance a minimalist decor of wood and pops of color on white walls, which is reflected in their cuisine. Drink specials are available during happy hour from 5 PM to 6 PM Wednesday to Saturday, including discounts on beer and reduced prices for spirits, cocktails, and even $10 off bottles of wine. After an afternoon at the Country Music Hall of Fame just a few miles away or perhaps in the morning before you set off for the day, stop by for a quick bite and a coffee (or boozy brunch drink) at Stay Golden Restaurant. It’s more than just a coffee shop, though. It’s excellent food and great drink in a fantastic environment. Monday to Thursday, check out their happy hour drink specials with two-person carafes of delicious bloody marys or one of their many prosecco bar cocktails. Next door to Vanderbilt University, Henley is a modern American brasserie, the brainchild of Chopped Champion Executive Chef Kristin Beringson. Henley serves french food without all the pomp and circumstance. Instead, they focus on French technique, Mediterranean flavors, and southern soul. A true indication of a relaxed yet refined atmosphere is how a restaurant handles happy hour, offered Sunday to Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM in Henley’s case. A variety of drinks are on special and smoked cheddar cheese & pepper pork rinds or herbed goat cheese dip with pitas. Try them both while catching up with friends.

A stone’s throw from the Tennessee State University Campus in the Nations building, Nicky’s Coal Fired has been providing Italian (and specifically pizza) to West Nashville since 2016, regularly ranking as some of the best pizza in America. Run by a husband and wife team with plenty of culinary experience, this restaurant should be the place to go for all important dates. For half-price pizzas, heavily discounted cocktails, and drinks, visit Nicky’s Monday to Thursday from 5 PM to 6:30 PM. When I visited, I tried their vegan pizza, the ‘Be-Hive Pep’ with coconut-based mozzarella and plant-based pepperoni. It blew me away. Thanks to the cook from the coal-fired ovens, I didn’t miss the meat at all.

Sat on a crossroads between Elmwood Ave and 12th Ave South with plenty of shopping options nearby, Bottle Cap boasts that it’s a neighborhood hang, and the vibe it gives off is precisely that. This is well-done traditional pub fare with healthy options and plenty of food that will warm you after a less-than-great day. Specials nights are ongoing for sporting events, live acoustic music, and more. Happy hour is from 7 PM to close, which includes 2-for-1 Tito’s and 2-for-1 domestic beers. Specials change all the time, though, so keep an eye on the website. If you want a menu starting point, I recommend the pimento cheeseburger with smash patties—delicious.

Walden Bar

2909B Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
Phone: 615-760-5808

In 2018, East Nashville, or East Row Hill, specifically gained a new occupant. That was Walden, a neighborhood cocktail bar with plenty of beer taps, affordable signature cocktails that change according to the seasons, and a dog-friendly patio. The food menu is short and focuses on the snacks that will soak up all the delicious spirits you’ll be ingesting, and that’s okay. Their happy hour runs from 5 PM to 7 PM every day, with an all-day happy hour on Tuesdays. Try a discounted draft cocktail with seasoned popcorn or a simple cheese pizza.

Nestled in the heart of Germantown, Germantown Pub has a warm and accepting atmosphere even to those new to the area who come in to watch a game or unwind with a few drinks. During dinner service, Germantown Pub is kid-friendly, so bring the whole family. Enjoy drinks on a budget with their happy hour every day from 3 PM to 7 PM with discounts on drafts, drinks, and house wine. To soak up those drinks, I recommend the pork chop sandwich or the GTP chicken & waffles with honey butter if you’re starving.

Part of the Gulch neighborhood only a mile or two from downtown Nashville and just blocks from the Country Music Hall of Fame, Bar Louie is a stop-in after work or shopping spot with a warm pub atmosphere and plenty of drink specials. During the week, there’s happy hour Monday to Friday from 4 PM to 7 PM, which includes reduced prices for domestic and craft drafts and half-off select bar bites. My go-to option was one of the many flatbreads on offer or their flash-fried crispy calamari with giardiniera (pickled vegetables) aioli.

Mickey’s Tavern

2907 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216
Phone: 615-852-5228

Mickey’s Tavern on Gallatin Pike in a neighborhood full of music and clothing stores is a dive bar you’ll wish was in your neck of the woods. It’s dark and may appear to be a hole in the wall, but it’s a budget-friendly watering hole with pool tables, foosball, darts, a jukebox inside, and a deck outside. This is the place to go and drink. Enjoy discounted spirits and two-for-one drinks during their happy hour, which runs Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 7 PM. They offer a small selection of food. I enjoyed their Cuban sandwich or order from their neighborhood sister eatery Nicoletto’s next door and ate at Mickey’s.

The original Tin Roof location sits near Music Row on Demonbreun Hill, surrounded by universities, office complexes, and plenty of places to visit if you’re visiting Nashville. Their sister location is downtown if you happen to be in that neighborhood. This is an American bar celebrating the bar atmosphere with live music and lots of daily specials. Every day has a different special, but happy hour Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 7 PM is constant with discounts on draft, cocktails, and shots. Their “better than bar food” menu will help with all those budget-friendly drinks, and I suggest starting with a flavorful Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich.

You must try the Tattooed Lady cocktail with gin and lavender with an artisanal snack like pimento cheese dip and Bagelshop bagel chips.

In Germantown, near the Cumberland River, The Goat bar offers a neighborhood bar to grab drinks with friends or work colleagues or enjoy a few moments to watch a local game.
