Chances are you’ve heard about TikTok. TikTok is one of the newest, trendiest social media platforms exploding among young people. The app allows you to scroll through short, fast-paced videos. Comedians, fashionista, beauty gurus, doctors, influencers, and more are on the app. Among these creators, brands are also jumping into action to take advantage of this marketing opportunity, and yours should too! Here are 5 reasons why your business needs to be on TikTok.
1. Large audience
In just a few years, TikTok has become a huge platform and is continuing to grow. The app has been downloaded over 2 billion times and has more than 800 million regular users. This creates an amazing opportunity to expose your brand and promote your business.
90% of users go on TikTok every day for an average of an hour a day, making it possible to show your product to new or returning users constantly. 1 billion videos are viewed daily, making this platform saturated. Adding your content into the mix will allow these users to gain a deeper understanding of your brand. Even squaring out a small portion of the users on the platform means a large amount of exposure for your company.
2. Fast-paced feed
The quick, fast-paced nature of TikTok makes it a great platform to market your product. On TikTok, videos are limited to a 1-minute max. This can allow you to quickly grab the audiences’ attention. Then your audience can easily go to your profile, view the rest of your content, and learn more about your brand.
The downside of this is that if you do not grab the attention of users right at the beginning of your video, they will scroll past your content without a second thought. In order to get the maximum amount of engagement on your profile, make sure your video is engaging and exciting the second it starts playing.
If users watch your content in its entirety, the algorithm will bring your content back up on their page more often. This makes having an exciting and engaging business TikTok account can be extremely valuable for advertising your business, as it can help give you a following.
3. Active users
Unlike platforms like Instagram and Facebook, users going on TikTok are ready for an immersive experience.
Due to the nature of the app, the volume plays an important part in the content. Users recognize this and come ready to fully absorb posts, making this an opportunity for users to be fully immersed in your content.
Along with this users are more likely to like, comment, and share on TikTok than other platforms due to how engaging the content is. This allows for your content to get more engagement than other apps and therefore spread to a larger audience. The platform can allow your audience to give you feedback, creating a sense of community around your brand on TikTok.
4. Organic reach
Across various platforms, many brands have faced the challenge of having a decline in their organic reach. On Facebook, a company’s post on their account reaches an average of only 10% of their followers. This leaves 90% of their audience unreached. On other platforms to gain a wider reach, users have to pay.
On TikTok this is not the case, due to the plethora of users. There are more users watching content than actively posting it, leaving a space for businesses to post content on the app. Since users spend an average of 52 minutes a day on the app and videos are a maximum of a minute long, they need content to watch. TikTok’s For You Page, the main method of scrolling on the app, allows users who don’t follow your account to view your content. This allows your content to be seen by more people than on other platforms.
5. Beat competitors
Need more of a reason to get your business on TikTok? Your competitors are already on it and you should beat the ones that aren’t already there!
Many brands that have a younger target audience are trying to market their products or services to young people on the app. Increasingly other brands are hopping on the trend, as more age groups are getting on TikTok. In the U.S., 1 in 8 adults are on TikTok. This creates a great opportunity to advertise your brand to a wide variety of people.
The ability to effectively advertise on TikTok is there, but only some are taking it. While 89% of marketers planned to add Facebook as part of their social media marketing 2020, only 4% planned to add TikTok. While some brands are already advertising on TikTok, so many aren’t. This is a chance for you to meet your competitors that are already on it, and get a leg up on those who aren’t!
Making a TikTok page for your business allows you to have fun with your brand, while gaining an advantage over competitiors allowing your brand to grow.
