There are endless ideas for lead magnets in today’s marketing world, but one smart idea is to create a quiz.
When it comes to lead magnets, it is important to make your visitor feel like you are there for them.
The trick is to find ones that pull in your target audience.
Far too often, bloggers will use generic lead magnets that don’t create long term visitors, customers, readers.
When your magnet is too generic or far-fetched, you can still be getting a great conversion rate, but this doesn’t guarantee that they will be returning visitors/customers.
Why a quiz, you may ask? Well, let me tell you!
- Quizzes are designed to be personal to the user. If someone feels as though you are providing personal service, they are much more likely to listen.
- They’re fun! Seriously though, who doesn’t love taking cute, little quizzes that reveal something new about yourself?
- They’re engaging. The best way to guarantee you have visitors return is to ensure they are interacting with your site.
- Everyone loves free stuff! If people know they are getting value out of your quiz and signing up for your email list, they feel it’s worthwhile.
- You can learn more about your audience by collecting the result of your quiz.
Before you begin creating your quiz, there are a couple of things you’ll need to think about first:
1. Decide the type of quiz you want to create
There are a couple different options when it comes to the type of quiz you can create.
Depending on the audience and what you’re offering, certain quiz types work better than others.
Often times, these types of quizzes are revealing what YOU can do for THEM.
For example, let’s say a visitor stumbles across your blogging website and sees the potential in what you provide as a business, but is either unsure or overwhelmed by all you have to offer.
But then they see you have a free quiz titled “What Type of Blogger Are You?” that illustrates the different types of bloggers that exist.
The quiz then includes a series of questions targeted towards what their interests are or what areas they are looking for help in.
Then the results can include links to different blog posts you have tailored for each “type.”
On our LadyBossBlogger website, we have a quiz for visitors to take at the top of the page to find their perfect niche.
2. Choose what your results will be
Regardless of what you plan on “rewarding” your user with, you should always include a short description of their results.
Be sure to offer them your incentive that relates to their results in exchange for their email. AKA, a call to action!
Depending on the type of quiz you created, results can range from many different things. Here are a couple ideas:
- A list of posts to read: no matter your niche, the resources, and posts you create are all going to have slightly different topics addressed within. (This can be tricky to keep updated if you are consistently adding new blog posts, but is a great resource if you’re up for the challenge!)
- Free resource: Maybe your quiz has four ending results based on what they answered. With each different result, you include either a checklist, simple ebook, webinar invite, etc. as a great way to make your visitor feel like you’re giving them a piece of what you do at no cost to them.
Remember to incorporate your email capture onto the end of your quiz to actually get the emails of your leads.
This way you can collect their emails and send them their result or “prize” as an automated welcome email.
3. Join Interact!
Interact is a super simple and efficient website for creating lead-generating quizzes!
Over at Interact, you will be able to “Make A Quiz For Free” on their main page. The image below shows what that page looks like.
After registering, you’ll be asked some questions like whether you’d like to use a pre-made template or create your own.
Then, Interact will walk you through successfully setting up your first quiz.
Once you are to the customizing page, you’ll be able to play around with the settings to design it just the way you would like!
4. Create your quiz
Whether you’re using a pre-made template or a template you created, there are endless possibilities of how you can make your quiz look and perform.
You can change the cover, colors, fonts, questions, and results.
Starting off with one of their already made templates is a great way to get a hang of how to use their website. You can also use a pre-made one but change everything to have a simple, blank template to work with.
5. Have fun!
While the intentions of creating a lead generating quiz are to grow your business, don’t get too caught up in the logistics that you forget to incorporate some fun into your quiz, too.
Your personality should come through in your questions and results since you want your visitor to get a sense of the way you run your business.
Lead generating can be a tricky task, but when done the right way, you are guaranteed to start seeing a steady flow of new subscribers.
Quizzes are a great way to begin (or continue) this process wherever you are in the game! Have some fun creating your quiz and watch your emails start rolling in!
