Solutions for Common Access and/or Download Issues

If you are experiencing problems either accessing the paid member areas you subscribed to, or problems downloading Excel sheets, try these common solutions. Often, if there is a problem it is due to issues with a person’s browser, their security settings, or with Excel itself. Here are some solutions:

Solutions for Problems Accessing your Paid Subscription Areas

  1. with Chefs Resources open in your browser, refresh the cache for the site (the browser may have kept the unsubscribed version of the page…directions below)
  2. try logging in w/ a different browser (chrome, microsoft edge, firefox, etc)

Chrome: How to Clear Cache

In Google Chrome, clearing the browser cache is done via Clear Browsing Data area from Settings.
To clear cache on the Chrome browser, follow the steps mentioned below:
Tap on the three dots on the top right corner of the browser window.
Choose More tools and click on Clear browsing data.
Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data.
Click on Clear data.

Microsoft Edge: Delete Browsing History (Clear cache)

In Microsoft Edge, clearing cache is done via Delete Browsing History option.
Open the browser and go to 3 dots at the top right corner and click them.
Tap on History, followed by Clear history.
Select your options and click on Delete.

Solutions for problems Downloading Excel forms and/or Viewing Videos

Option 1
Check your security settings to see if they are blocking downloads, or if you can mark chefs-resources.com as “safe”. Sometimes disabling your antivirus just long enough to get the download resolves download problems

Option 2
Turn off your ad blocker.

For Chrome (Windows)
  1. Click the Customize and control Google Chrome menu (the three dots in the upper right corner)
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click Advanced at the bottom.
  4. Under Privacy and security, click the Site Settings button.
  5. Select Pop-ups and redirects.
  6. To disable the popup blocker uncheck the Blocked (recommended) box.

Option 3
Try opening  Excel first (your version of Excel), then opening the file you are having trouble with from there. To do that:

  1. Start the program needed to access your document; Word, Excel or PowerPoint
  2. When the program opens, click File Open, find the problem file in the file navigator and open it.

Option 4
Some users have reported an issue with opening files downloaded in Excel for Windows. The symptom is that Excel will start, but the document will not be opened. This issue is not isolated to Chefs-Resources and has been reported widely by users of other web software.

This problem is caused by an update to Microsoft Office. To solve this problem:

  1. Right-click on the downloaded file and choose “Properties”
  2. Click the “Unblock” checkbox or button at the bottom-right and click OK
  3. Double-click the downloaded file to open it in Excel

If this solution fixes the issue then you must do this for each file that you download because it is part of your security settings.

Option 5
If you cannot find a solution on this page which works then send me a link to the file/s you want (the page which discusses it) and tell me which download you want. I can send you the form via email until the issue is resolved. Contact Us

Hello, nothing major just wanted to know the password to unprotect spreadsheet so I can customize. Thanks, Chef Myke chefmyke@golftca.com

I couldn’t seem to find it so here I am haha! So I’m trying to modify schedule because the red “enter start date” drives me nuts.

Chef Joseph

Hi Chef,
I am trying to download the scalable recipe template for my catering price list, but when I try and download it, it just opens a new tab.
I have no problem downloading other excel templates, but this one doesnt seem to want to download.

nursekris

Using the scalable recipe template- when I enter an item in grams, on the recipe card tabs it doesn’t show the amount of grams, it just shows #### grams.
