Social media is an incredible marketing tool to get your brand’s name out especially when you get your followers to go to your website.
Gaining followers on social media is easy, but turning followers into loyal customers or readers of your blog requires you to ask more from your followers.
Whether you have a blog or other e-commerce business, you can use both personal social accounts and business accounts to promote your brand.
Here are 7 tricks to increase your website traffic flow from social media:
1. Create a business account
More often than not, business owners will have personal social media pages and pages for their business. People normally follow business pages for one of two reasons: either they already love the brand or are curious about it.
Fill in your profile with information about the business and add a link to your website.
On several platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, users can set up shops that list the price of items and link directly to a website.
Be sure to research what different platforms offer for business accounts and spend time choosing the right social media sites for your business.
2. Promote your content
You should (obviously) be promoting content from your website to your followers on your business pages, but you should occasionally try it on your personal pages.
If you create something you’re super proud of, don’t be afraid to share it and the story behind it.
Leave short excerpts from blog posts in the descriptions of your posts to entice readers to read more. Try asking your audience questions relevant to your post.
When leaving links to your website, always optimize calls to action. These short phrases, such as:
- Visit our site
- Learn more
- Shop now
…are proven to increase click-through traffic to your site.
3. Don’t be too pushy
You want to promote your business but not come across as a living advertisement. Keep promotional posts positive but not in-your-face.
Your content should come across as uplifting and helpful to your audience and offer to solve their problems.
Don’t overuse SEO; don’t overstuff headlines with keywords or put deceptive or misleading content in headlines.
Google now has quality guidelines that allow users to report sites that are considered spam. In some cases, a reported site could be removed from Google search results completely.
4. Make content easy to share
Shareable content is extremely important for a blog or business. You don’t want to be the only one promoting your content; ask your followers to share your content in the descriptions of your posts.
On your website, install a plugin from Social Warefare that displays social shares and embeds a sharing tool.
You could also try using Click to Tweet buttons. People are much more likely to share content if they can do it with one click of a button.
5. Use lots of visuals
According to a few statistics listed on Inc.com, posts that include images “result in 650% more engagement than posts with only text. Posts with videos attract 3 times more clicks than text-only posts.”
That means people are becoming more reliant on images for information and entertainment. Because of this, it makes sense for the fastest growing platform to still be Instagram, which is completely visual-based.
Be sure to always include some sort of picture or video in your posts. For informational posts, try creating infographics on Canva since most people are visual learners.
6. Post at specific times
To reach the most people on social media, try posting when your followers are most active.
Business Instagram accounts show analytics on what times of day your followers are on the app the most, and other platforms have similar statistics.
In a blog post on Falcon.io, writers gathered data from 18 different studies to conclude what the best times and days are to post on social media to get the most engagement. Here are those statistics:
- Facebook: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Instagram: 10 a.m.-11 a.m., 2 p.m.-3 p.m.; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Twitter: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., 5-6 p.m.; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- LinkedIn: 8 a.m., 12 p.m., 5-6 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
7. Engage with your audience
Find your target audience through hashtags or similar brands; follow and engage with their social accounts. Like and reply to comments, answer your followers’ questions, or simply thank them for their opinions.
People remember when brands engage with them on social media, and it is likely to improve their opinion of the brand.
The more engaged you are, the more your followers will want to visit your website to learn even more about your brand.
By promoting your content, making it easy to share, and engaging with your audience, you will likely see more of your social media followers also visiting your website.
