Andiamo Pizza Miami was the winner of the Miami New Times‘ “Best of 2020” for its pizza. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. Located in the MiMo District, Andiamo Pizza Miami offers outdoor seating and a casual vibe. The brick oven pizzeria is a local favorite.

Dozens of pizzas are on the menu, but my favorites are the Mulberry Street with Italian Sausage, bell peppers, red onions, tomato sauce, and mozzarella, and the Bella Bambina with pancetta, caramelized onions, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and smoked gouda. Other popular menu items include the Caprese salad and the homemade meatballs. 


Ironside Pizza

Ironside Pizza offers wood-fired pizzas made with “Caputo” flour imported from Napoli. The menu offers lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options. The restaurant closes on Mondays but is open for lunch and dinner during the rest of the week. 

The Capricciosa pizza includes mozzarella, Parmacotto ham, Portobello, mushrooms, and kalamata olives and is a delicious and popular menu item. My favorite pie was the Peste e Ricotta white pizza with mozzarella, pesto basil, ricotta cheese, heirloom tomatoes, Portobello mushrooms, and speck. Try the Pizza Nutella for dessert! 


Mister 01

Mister 01 uses only fresh, local ingredients or those imported from Italy. Chef Renato Viola moved to Miami Beach under the O1 Visa category, reserved for “Extraordinary Artistic Ability,” so the restaurant borrows its name as recognition and reflection of his incredible skill. The restaurant now has more than ten locations in Miami, across Florida, and it’s one of our favorite places in the city

Begin your meal with a glass of the Chianti Grati from Italy and with the burrata starter. The pizzas are the star of the menu and they have two types of them.Classic and Specialty. My favorite pizza was the Ginger Lilliam pie with fresh ginger and black pepper. The Lorenzo calzone is also a special treat with ham and mushrooms. Many menu items are vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Klime Kovaceski is the chef and owner of Crust which began in June 2015, located near Downtown Miami and the Lummus Park Historic District. 

The restaurant serves modern Italian cuisine and specializes in pizza. The Wall Street Journal profiled Crust with a full-page story in 2019. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner. 

My favorite appetizer is the shrimp cakes with sautéed mushrooms, lemon-horseradish mayo, and tomato coulis. I enjoyed both the Funghi Pizza with roasted portobello and white mushrooms, with goat cheese and white truffle oil, and the Truffle Honey Pizza with blue cheese, walnuts, arugula, honey, and white truffle oil. Try the lasagna or the spinach ravioli if you are in the mood for pasta! 


Stanzione 87

Stanzione 87 specializes in Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza and natural wine. The restaurant ferments the pizza dough for at least 72 hours, and the mozzarella is handmade every morning. The pizzas take only 90 seconds to cook in the scorching oven. 

The San Daniele pizza includes mozzarella, San Daniele Prosciutto, Arugula, and parmigiano. I enjoyed a white pizza, the Lemon and Buratta, with lemon slices, capers, bell peppers, homemade mozzarella, and burrata. A popular pizza is the Red Smoke with proper bacon, red onion, homemade mozzarella, basil, pecorino, smoked mozzarella, and Stanzione hot sauce. For dessert, try the tiramisu or the Nutella doughnuts. 


Lucali

Lucali is a Brooklyn-style brick-oven pizzeria that uses fresh ingredients. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 am to 11:00 pm. The restaurant is cozy and offers a chill neighborhood spot for a glass of wine and a slice of pizza. Lucali’s location is on a quiet corner between the water and the city center.

The signature plain pie is delicious on its own, but the restaurant offers various toppings, including pepperoni, red pepper, shallots, portabella mushrooms, ricotta, basil, and more. I also tried a bite of the meatball parm sandwich, and it was delicious! Try a glass of the Monte Degli Angeli Pinot Noir with your entree.

James Beard Award-winning Executive Chef Michael Schwartz operates Harry’s Pizzeria. The restaurant aims to present no-frills pizza in a comfortable setting. Harry’s Pizzeria is open daily, and pizza is available for take-out or delivery. The restaurant offers a meal deal that includes two pizzas, an appetizer and a salad for only $65. 

The house-made Focaccia is a delightful appetizer with herbed butter. The pizzas are delicious–try the Black Truffle Pizza; it is the restaurant’s specialty. I also enjoyed the roasted eggplant pizza with harissa. I loved the Dawn Patrol cocktail with vodka, pear, lemon, and sage. The warm chocolate chunk cookie is a perfect dessert. 


‘O Munaciello

‘O Munaciello is a pizzeria located in the MiMo district of Miami, but the restaurant’s roots stem from a restaurant in Florence, Italy. They bake every pizza in a brick oven handmade in Naples, Italy. ‘O Munaciello prides itself in presenting authentic Italian cuisine to visitors and residents of South Florida. The restaurant is open for lunch on weekdays and for dinner every day of the week. 

The classic Margherita pizza is incredible. Popular gourmet pizzas include the Troisi with smoked buffalo cheese, porcini mushrooms, and fresh black truffle and the Vesuvio with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and burrata. ‘O Munaciello also serves pasta dishes like four-cheese gnocchi and spaghetti carbonara. 


Frankie’s Pizza

Frankie’s Pizza has been open in Miami since 1955 and continues to be a family-run, community pizza joint. They serve the pizzas in square-cut portions with a crispy crust. Frankie’s offers take-out pizza from Tuesday through Sunday. Stop by for a slice of pizza for about $2! Bon Appetit Magazine named Frankie’s Pizza one of the top eight best pizza spots in the country. 

The Tomato and Cheese pizza is for the traditionalists, it is delicious with no fuss, but I also enjoyed creating my pizza with mushroom, bacon, and basil. Add the garlic rolls for a filling meal.


Steve’s Pizza

Steve’s Pizza is a New York-style pizzeria and is open daily with lunch specials during the weekdays. Steve’s is more than delicious pizza; the restaurant also offers various pasta entrees. The restaurant’s vibe is exceedingly casual and friendly and the pizza, most often served on paper plates, is a neighborhood staple.

While the classics, like cheese and pepperoni, are always a solid recommendation, I enjoyed the Shrimp Special Pizza with garlic, basil, and shrimp. Steve’s Special, loaded with toppings like ground beef and peppers, is a favorite among the locals. Try the onion rings or the gator bites alongside your slice of pie! 


La Leggenda Pizzeria

Serving authentic Italian food in Miami, La Leggenda Pizzeria is a legend – literally and figuratively. The restaurant’s name translates to “the legend,” which is the nickname of Giovanni Gagliardi, the owner and culinary director at the pizzeria. The restaurant ensures “STG” standards, meaning Traditional Specialty Guaranteed and referring to the quality of ingredients and distinct cooking practices.

They categorize pizzas into specialty, award-winning, and classic. My favorite specialty pizza is the White Truffle Pizza with truffle cream, mozzarella, ham, and porcini mushrooms. Of the award-winning pies, I would recommend the Salami and Bell Peppers with spicy Italian Salami, red bell peppers, San Marzano tomato sauce, and mozzarella.


Miami has culturally diverse food offerings and world-renowned restaurants, and the pizzerias have worked to find their rightful place among a long list of restaurants serving delicious foods. 

With thousands visiting south Florida for its beaches and vibrant nightlife, it is little wonder why the demand for high-quality pizza has risen and remained.
