Social media is great. You can build your brand through Instagram, or start marketing your blog on Facebook and Twitter.
Unfortunately, too much screen time will lead to burnout.
In order to stay motivated and make sure your brand feels refreshed, check out these tips below:
1. Collaborate with other influencers
“Working with other social media influencers isn’t only fun, it’s a great way to generate new content!” says MBM Margaux J Rathbun. Simply find other influencers who are of a similar niche and message them to ask if they want to work with you.
The worst thing they can do is say no. The best thing they can do is ask for you to do a guest blog post, take over your Instagram story for an interview, or even host a giveaway together.
The benefit of these collaborations? Larger reach!
2. Plan out content ahead of schedule
When working in social media, it is very important that you plan out your content as late as weekly, but as early as monthly.
One app that we here at LadyBossBlogger like to use is Planoly. Planoly is an app that handles the task of scheduling and monitoring your content.
Scheduling your content so far in advance will reduce your chances of burning out, “especially since you won’t be playing catch up with your daily tasks of being a social media influencer” writes Rathbun.
3. Unfollow anyone who makes you feel like you’re not doing enough
Do you ever scroll through your Instagram feed and immediately feel down on yourself when you see the perfect posts from an incredibly aesthetically pleasing profile?
If so, you need to unfollow that account. What you’re feeling is not about the account, but the insecurity you may have about your own profile.
Instead of wallowing over why you feel like you’re not as good as the other account, work to actively improve! This is a great motivator for getting out of that social media rut you have been in.
Not only this but realizing that comparing yourself to an influencer who may not even market the same things as you will give you some much-needed perspective.
4. Take a break
If you’re burnt out, writing for the sake of being consistent won’t do your dedicated readers any good.
One piece of advice we would like to offer is taking a complete break from your blog for a couple of days. Not blogging includes not responding to comments as well. If you can, try logging off social media as well.
“The mental break may be all you need to recharge your passion for blogging and help you fall back in love with it,” says Lauren McManus of Thrive Global.
5. Remember why you started in the first place
Remembering your purpose for creating your blog is a huge motivator.
Some questions you can ask yourself to get back to your blogging roots are:
- Why did you start this journey to build a blog?
- Was it to make money or as a hobby?
- Is there a way for you to make it fun, again?
Just remember: Circle back to your blog’s purpose, and stay in touch with why you started your blog in the first place.
