Matthew’s Restaurant serves authentic French cuisine in the center of Jacksonville’s San Marco district and they’re easily one of my favorite places to eat in the city. The restaurant has been a staple in the community for more than twenty-five years. Traditional French and Mediterranean dishes influence Chef Alex Yim, who focuses on creating fresh seafood plates. The dress code is business casual. Matthew’s has two private dining spaces. The Wine Room seats approximately fifty guests, while The Loft comfortably seats sixteen people. Specific three or four-course menus are available for service in either of the private rooms. Complete the private dining request form on the website, and the restaurant will finalize every detail for the perfect event.

The restaurant is waterfront, so the views from the dining area overlook docked boats and the serene intercoastal waterway. For dinner, I enjoyed the Mushroom Rigatoni with parmesan, crème, and cracked red pepper. Other popular menu items for group dining include the French onion soup, Sausage, and Chèvre flatbread, and the Steak Frites Au Poivre. Many wine options are available, from cabernet sauvignon to pinot grigio.

I would recommend the Rodizio Experience, which includes access to the salad bar area, unlimited table-side service of various fire-roasted meats, and warm side dishes from the kitchen.

Guests place a colored coaster beside their plates to indicate if they would like to continue to be served as the fire-roasted meats move about the dining room. They serve side dishes family-style, and with the options to add credits for cocktails or purchase a bottle of wine, the dining experience is excellent.

The plated lunch is an excellent option for a business meeting, and the menu has great options like Ellie’s Chicken Piccata or the Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon. I enjoyed the Red Wine Braised Short Ribs served as part of the plated private dinner. Additions like an Artisan Cheese & Candied Bacon station are selling points for hosting an event here!

The restaurant is available for private dining and catering. From holiday events to corporate networking, Maggiano’s banquet halls are perfect for an array of activities. Private Dining Event Managers include customizable printed menus, audio and visual equipment, and a flexible contract. While Maggiano’s is an Italian restaurant, you won’t find any pizza here when you’re in Jacksonville, but there are plenty of places to go for that!

The Mandarin Room seats twenty guests, while The Cypress Room accommodates forty people. I thought The Cypress Room was beautiful. The restaurant can accommodate any event, from a cocktail party to a sit-down dinner. The plated dinner menu is diverse with chicken, steak, or seafood entree options and various sides and dessert options.

The events team can assist with audiovisual equipment and bar service. The restaurant offers small rooms with private two-top tables, known as “Lover’s Lane” for special date nights.

Unique occasion rooms can accommodate small groups and private gatherings of up to forty people. For social or business meetings, the restaurant offers an excellent ambiance. Notably, the restaurant now specializes in hybrid in-person meetings and allows guests to attend virtually using technology!

The bacon-wrapped shrimp is delicious. I also enjoyed the lobster eclair with lemon aioli. The beef tenderloin on a crispy potato is savory and delicious. The menu is very extensive and offers selections for every diet from gluten-free and keto to vegetarian.
