Do you ever wonder how bloggers grow their success so quickly?
Blogging can sometimes feel like a difficult route as opposed to growing as an influencer on social media.
The internet is becoming increasingly visual, and the blogging world is changing. But like social media, growing a blog takes time and careful strategy.
After putting in the hard hours of creating content and doing everything to promote it, a blogger’s dream is to make enough money to quit their day job.
But writing great articles and creating a perfect website doesn’t always equal rapid success.
Bloggers must find the best methods of promoting their unique content. They must also learn how to make money from it. For some it takes years, but others are able to quit their day jobs in a matter of months.
Here are 5 bloggers that grew with rapid success.
1. Chasing Foxes
Husband and wife duo Silas and Grace Moser started Chasing Foxes in 2016. Before starting the blog they both worked “soul-sucking” jobs in corporate and retail.
But 3 months after the blog launched, they started to make over $3,000 a month. So Silas quit his job and the couple started traveling full-time. A year later, they were getting over 2 million page views a month.
Silas and Grace disliked working for other people and wanted a way to work online. Part of the reason they were so successful is that they worked incredibly hard from the get-go.
They followed other professional bloggers’ advice and modeled their marketing after theirs’.
Another reason could be that they took a different approach to niche their content. The couple writes about everything lifestyle-related, including travel, food, finance, and blogging tips.
One thing the couple strongly emphasizes is the need for good headlines. Grace spent time analyzing other popular blogs’ article titles, including Buzzfeed and Upworthy.
She found that their titles had a sense of urgency with phrases like “must try” or “should do.” So she modeled her titles after theirs instead of blending in with every other “how-to” headline.
2. The Busy Budgeter
Rosemarie Groner of The Busy Budgeter started her blog in late 2014, eager to make a full-time living off of it. She worked from 0 up to 400,000 page views a month and made $5,000 a month at the end of her first year.
A little over 2 years in she made $86,000 a month. Her 2016 gross income was $341,000.
A mother and former law enforcement worker, she started the finance blog to teach people how she and her husband paid off most of their debt.
Rosemarie committed to one year of blogging and said if she didn’t see success, she’d quit. But she worked hard, learned from the pros, and stuck it out through the times she wasn’t seeing much money.
She emphasizes what an amazing tool Pinterest is, especially group boards. She would see what group boards popular bloggers were in and ask to be part of them. The more followers a group board has, the more exposure your blog will get.
3. The Lipstick Fever
Em Roberts started her fashion blog, The Lipstick Fever, in 2015. Since then, she has amassed over 63K followers on Instagram and is constantly collaborating with brands such as Pantene and NARS cosmetics.
Her blog covers all things beauty, fashion, and lifestyle and her Instagram page is on point. She started her blog in New York City but moved to London in 2017, took her blog international, and gained even more exposure.
From the beginning, her photos looked professional and high quality. She exudes a love for fashion and empowers her followers to be more confident through clothing.
Her niche is highly visual with brands eager to collaborate with influencers. With her level of professionalism in the blog, it’s no surprise she had success so quickly.
4. Lili’s Travel Plans
Lili started her blog, Lili’s Travel Plans in 2015 while working a full-time job. But after reading advice from other bloggers and following tips on how to write and promote a blog, she got tired of trying to be like everyone else.
She stopped following other people’s marketing advice and started to write content in her own unique voice. She created her own promotion strategies and started gaining 5 times the traffic on her website.
Lili doesn’t focus mainly on the glamorous side of travel; she keeps it raw and real. She emphasizes enjoying the moments over stressing about getting the perfect Instagram shot.
Her blog is less about traveling tips and more about the stories behind her travels. The posts are full of detail and emotion, a different and unique take to travel blogging than many others.
Her method for success was to be real and make the content you love.
5. Kaleidoscope Living
Tasha of Kaleidoscope Living saw incredible success in her first year of blogging. She spent 14 years as a lawyer, but the job was stressful and she wanted to spend more time with her twin daughters.
She created the craft and home improvement blog in October 2013, and by September the next year, it had grown to 200,000 page views a month.
However, she was inexperienced in turning a profit from all that exposure. So she enrolled in the highly respected, Elite Blog Academy, and saw even more growth.
Four months after purchasing the course, her monthly page views almost doubled. Her 2015 gross income from the blog was over $73,000. For 2016, it was $195,000.
One thing she mentions learning from the course is the importance of creating an “avatar.” An avatar is like a one-person target audience.
Instead of planning content around what could go viral, create amazing content that a single person will love and find useful.
Creating a blog and growing it fast is not easy. Everyone on this list will tell you it takes a ton of hard work and learning from others. But with time, the right strategy, and amazing content, rapid success can happen.
