Pizzata Pizzeria

240 S 22nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Phone: 215-546-7200
Visit Website

Pizzata Pizzeria translates to “pizza party” in Italian, giving the friendly and casual atmosphere associated with eating pizza.

Two best friends, Vinny and Davide, started the business after obsessing over the ingredients and providing Philadelphia with the best pizza.

Pizzata Pizzeria offers multiple types of red pies and white pies. Pizzata Pizzeria closes its doors at around 9 pm; however, they may close earlier if they sell out of pizza.

I liked the pizza dough the best because it had a baked goods aroma. In addition, all the pizza is slowly fermented for the best taste.

Pizzeria Beddia was named the best pizza in the US a few years ago, and it’s easily one of the best pizza places in Philly.

The dough is expertly charred for crunch, and they feature creative toppings. Pizzeria Beddia is a full-service restaurant, but they do offer takeout Monday-Thursday.

They also have a hoagie room for a two-hour pizza and hoagie Omakase experience.

The Original Tacconelli’s Pizzeria

2604 E Somerset St, Philadelphia, PA 19134
Phone: 215-425-4983

The Original Tacconelli’s Pizzeria is a 5th-generation family-owned pizzeria in Port Richmond, Philadelphia. It’s near Richmond Street, which is close to the Delaware River.

Whether you’re dining in or taking your pizza to go, the waiting times may vary at certain times of the day.

The Tacconelli family business is a one-oven operation even after being in operation for over a hundred years.

The Original Tacconelli’s Pizzeria is a laid back and casual pizzeria. You’ll find red and white tablecloths, which give the traditional impression of a pizzeria.

However, their pizza varies in design, including tomato, regular, white, and margarita. Also, there are many toppings to choose from.

Cacia’s Bakery

1526 W Ritner St, Philadelphia, PA 19145
Phone: 215-334-1340
Visit Website

Cacia’s Bakery opened in the 1950s and is famous for its brick oven pizza and bread. On my trip to Philadelphia, I found Cacia’s bakery in the heart of South Philadelphia.

However, this bakery has opened five additional locations across the Delaware River in New Jersey.

Cacia’s award-winning pizza can be ordered as a pie or by the slice. I like how there are 12 slices in a box, which is more than a normal pizza. However, you can order by the slice to mix 12 slices to create your box.

Cacia’s pizza is giant and full of cheese for pizza lovers. However, there are vegan and gluten-free pizza options too.

Pizza Jawn is one of the most sought-after pizzas in Philadelphia. Located in Philly’s Manayunk neighborhood, Pizza Jawn is almost always sold out so you’ll want to know how and when to order.

Every Thursday at 8pm Pizza Jawn drops a link for the next Thursday, same idea for Friday and Saturday.

You need to sign up for a slot to reserve your pizza, and these slots are gone in seconds.

Be sure to follow them on social media for announcements and updates on new sign-up sheets.

Also, they provide reduced housing, legal representation, and transportation.

Owner Muhammad Abdul-Hadi and Executive Chef Michael Carter have experience with the prison system and strive to keep their title of Philly’s best new restaurant.

My favorite dishes were the No Betta Love and Roc The Mic pizza. They have thick square pizza made to perfection with delicious ingredients.

It’s hard to talk about famous Philly pizzas without mentioning Lorenzo and Sons. If you’re looking for a slice of pizza bigger than your head, this is the place to go.

While it’s probably not the best pizza in Philly, it is a classic Philadelphia restaurant with huge, gooey slices of pizza.

After a night out on South Street, waiting in line for a slice at Lorenzo’s is practically a rite of passage.

You can’t go wrong with their Margherita or Pepperoni pizzas. If you’re into trying new and unique toppings they have plenty of options.

Maurizio, a Neapolitan pie with rosemary, mozzarella, olive oil and sea salt.

In addition to pizza, Hook and Master offers tiki cocktails, wine, and beer for those old enough to drink.

Also, they have a happy hour menu, including pizza, small plates, and beverages.

Like its namesake, 20th Street Pizza is on 20th street in central Philadelphia. However, 20th Street Pizza is a vegan pizzeria that pushes the creative boundaries that people associate with vegan flavors.

The taste may not be for everyone, but it’s a pizzeria worth trying in Philadelphia.

Also, their pizza is made fresh throughout the day. It’s easily done because they only have three round and square options.

However, there are multiple toppings you can add to enhance the flavors you enjoy.

Circles + Squares is named after the different shapes their pizza is offered in: thin crust circular pizzas or Detroit-style square pies with a thicker, chewier texture.

They offer various toppings, and each pizza is essentially a build-your-own experience. Customers choose between a circle or square pizza, red, cheese, or white, and then add toppings as they see fit.

There are vegan options for the slices and pies. Unfortunately, there are no gluten-free options. They’re also famous for upside down pizzas in slices and whole pies.

In addition, Paulie Gee’s Soul City Slice Shop includes a full bar to enjoy while eating pizza. Also, they have a curated selection of pieces of vinyl from the 1970s and 1980s.

Pitruco began by making wood-fired pizzas in a food truck before moving to a brick and mortar location in University City, in Franklin’s Table food hall.

  1. 12-20-22: I consider myself a pizza aficionado. I currently dwell in the northeast area, thus my recommendations if you will: (a) Drougie’s on Cottman Ave., (b) Charlie’s in Morrel Park Shppng. Plaza, and (c) Gino’s Cafe on Frankford by Cottman Aves.
